An MRI on Illinois star Ayo Dosunmu's left knee revealed no structural damage, the school announced Wednesday.
The sophomore guard fell to the floor clutching his knee Tuesday night at the end of Michigan State's 70-69 win over the 22nd-ranked Fighting Illini in Champaign, Ill.
Xavier Tillman's dunk put the Spartans on top with 6.6 seconds left. Dosunmu received the inbounds pass, dribbled the ball into the frontcourt, then slipped and lost the ball just before the buzzer.
Dosunmu, whose leg twisted awkwardly as he went down, was helped off the court.
"We received positive news today from the MRI scan," Fighting Illini coach Brad Underwood said in a statement. "Our medical staff will work with him around the clock on treatment and recovery. Ayo and his family have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from Illini Nation and college basketball fans everywhere."
The school did not specify the extent of the injury or provide a timetable for his return.
Dosunmu is averaging a team-high 15.8 points, a team-best 3.3 assists and 4.3 rebounds through 24 games.
Illinois (16-8, 8-5 Big Ten) has lost three straight heading into its next game Saturday at Rutgers.
